Note that the world-famous Mercedes-Benz is associated among motorists with the very concept of “car”. However, not everyone knows that two successful German automobile companies, which merged in June 1926 into the Daimler-Benz AG concern, are at the origins of the creation of this legendary automobile brand.

Almost a hundred years ago, Daimler-Benz AG merged Benz & Co. Reinische Gazmotoren-Fabrik, Mannheim (Benz & Cie.) and Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft. The first was created in October 1883 by the father of the world's first car, German engineer Karl Benz. The talented innovator personally developed a four-prong motor and officially filed a patent for a "gasoline-powered vehicle." The description of the invention patent No. DRP 37435 is today recognized as the "birth certificate" of the automobile and bears the name "Patent-Motorwagen" ("Patent Vehicle") for the world's first automobile. The first brainchild of the founder of the global automotive industry was a three-wheeled self-propelled bicycle with a gasoline engine, which became the progenitor of the modern four-wheeled car. The self-propelled wagon was named "Victoria", equipped with a 3 hp engine. with., the speed was 17-20 km / h. The second company "Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft", founded by design engineer Gottlieb Daimler just a month later, was no less successful. In 1896, this company built the world's first truck equipped with a 4 hp Phoenix two-cylinder engine. and a load capacity of 1500 kg.

The Daimler-Benz AG concern presented the first line of joint products in October 1926 at the Berlin Motor Show, just three months after the merger. These were jointly developed passenger car models produced under the new brand name Mercedes-Benz. Two-liter Mercedes-Benz model with 8/38 hp. (W 02) and a three-liter Mercedes-Benz model with 12/55 hp. (W03). Also in Berlin, a special model of Mercedes-Benz "K" was presented, created on the basis of a car with a capacity of 12/100/140 hp. with a shorter wheelbase and is the fastest touring car in the world. All new models of the concern have already been marked with a new trademark - the three-pointed star Mercedes, which adorns Mercedes-Benz cars to this day.

Today, in accordance with the new development strategy, Mercedes-Benz plans to completely switch to the production of cars with electric motors by 2030. It is planned that from 2025 Mercedes-Benz will stop developing new cars with internal combustion engines (ICE). The manufacturer intends to invest 40 billion euros in the creation of electric cars within eight years, at the same time, the company's investments in the production of cars with traditional engines by 2026 will have to be reduced by 80%.
